Thoughts:
This cartoon challenges our personal use of AI, and tech-gigants’ marketing strategies, which relies on exploration of vulnerable individuals looking for connection. Through an AR experience, the reader encounters John, who is extensively chatting with an AI bot. His emotional connection and message count rapidly increase until he reaches the CHAT LIMIT! An animation then starts in which John’s mood changes and OpenAI has taken over his brain = Heartbreak </3
A dogma for this assignment was that we had to thematize AI while simultaneously using AI in the production. I therefore used AI to help me create the 3D model that says, “Chat limit reached.” Otherwise, everything was created without AI interference.
The cartoon was drawn by hand, digitized, and coloured in Photoshop. Animated in After Effects.
